First Aid kit
A first aid kit is very important component of any daypack. You make one yourself
or buy one already assembled.
Tell Someone
Let someone know where you are hunting and when you plan on being back. This is
just in case something happens while you are hunting and are overdue to return
home. That someone can get help if needed.
Cell phone
If you have a cell phone, take it. You may never know if you will ever need to
get help or something else till you don't have it with you. Just turn down the
ringer while hunting or turn it off till you need it.
A Compass
We all can get turned around in the woods at one time or another. It happens to
the best of us. Carry with you a simple compass, it doesn't have to be fancy,
just has to work.
A Daypack
If you know you will be out all day, take a daypack with you. It can hold all
your food, first aid kit, compass, shells and whatever else you decide to take
along. Just pick up your trash when you leave.
Think Safety
This is the most important tip anyone can give. Be safety oriented. Check
equipment prier to use. Let someone know where you are going and when to expect
you back. If using a firearm treat it as it is loaded and keep the muzzle pointed
away from anyone else. And good hunting!
